Tips on How to do a Glamorous Romantic Makeup with Gold Tones

Have a date night coming up? Or maybe a special occasion requiring a romantic, red-carpet look is on your calendar, and you’re scrambling what makeup look to rock? Don’t worry. We got you covered!

Save your bucks because you don’t really need to hire a makeup artist to do a gold-toned, romantic makeup glam. Even someone with basic makeup skills can pull this off! With the right products and tools and these excellent tips, you can make an ethereal, romantic, gold-toned makeup look in no time.

1. Start with a dewy base

A gold-toned makeup look fits best with a base that speaks hydration and a lit-from-within type of feel. Starting with your primer, choose a product that can keep your makeup at bay, and at the same time, can hydrate and put a subtle glow to the skin. If you have large pores, put a pore-filling primer in the problem areas, but use a hydrating primer for the rest of the face.

The same goes for the foundation. Opt for a product with a natural finish rather than a full matte. Lay your foundation smoothly using a damp makeup sponge, and build up the coverage of your preference step by step.

2. Highlight before powder

It may seem daunting to some, but highlighting your face before powder gives you an inner glow that goes well with a romantic gold eye makeup. For this step, use a gold liquid highlighter. Apply the product on the high points of your face such as the cheeks, forehead, tip of the nose, and your cupid’s bow.

Extra tip: Apply your liquid highlighter using the tip of your damp makeup sponge for a seamless application. Because your base is still wet, using a brush might make textures and streaks on your base. Pat the product on your face slowly to create a skin-like effect.

3. Opt for a gold liquid eyeshadow

To make that gold eyeshadow pop, start with a gold liquid eyeshadow before topping it off with an eyeshadow powder. Liquid eyeshadow is more vibrant and has more extended longevity compared to eyeshadow powder.

But if you really want your eye makeup to stand out, top off the liquid shadow with the same shade of eyeshadow powder. It will draw a lot of attention to the eyes, so to make it more sultry and romantic, flick the shadow to create a soft cat-eye. Use a neutral brown crease shade for this step, and elongate the crease shade upwards

4. Set your face with a fresh or dewy setting spray

Spritzing your face with a makeup setting spray is essential to ensure your makeup stays in place for a long time. To make your makeup look more like skin, opt for a dewy or fresh setting spray that doesn’t dry down matte.

This kind of setting spray will elevate the overall golden highlight of the entire look, while a matte one may kind of downstate the glow.

Extra tip: Before the setting spray fully dries, apply some more golden highlighter to add some more romantic glow! Afterward, take your damp beauty sponge and gently pat your face to ensure all the products penetrate the skin.
